Marine Research Infrastructures and Facilities Portal: Access to the marine tools and expertise to innovate
The Campus mondial de la mer community is engaged in a radical, collaborative initiative to develop joint projects and encourage the pooling and use of its wide range of technology platforms, research infrastructures and facilities. Its remit is also to anticipate the need for new, shared equipment. The Campus ocean research infrastructures and facilities vary widely: vessels and autonomous underwater vehicles, observation and experimentation systems and laboratory equipment as well as advanced databases and high-performance computers.
The first concrete step was for Campus to produce an online portal which provides an up-to-date inventory of facilities and infrastructures available from higher education and research institutions, and from businesses seeking to collaborate on research.
Anyone in business, any student, researcher, engineer, technician or innovator can access this information on the same terms as other members of the Campus community, and can get in touch with the right technical experts for advice.
Research centres can raise awareness of their facilities and promote the services they provide in order to help companies develop their projects. Companies have the opportunity to receive support and expertise from local scientific teams and to promote their own facilities and services.
Available in French and English, the portal raises the profile of the region’s extensive marine science and technology infrastructures and facilities at local, national and international levels.
