A project serving a sector and a territory
Since 2019, the Pôle d’Équilibre Territorial et Rural (PETR) of the Pays de Morlaix has been running a pilot project, entitled Blue Valley®, whose ambition is to develop the blue bioeconomy, and more specifically marine biotechnologies, an industrial sector of the future for the tip of Brittany.
This project is conducted in close collaboration with the economic development departments of the three EPCIs of the Pays de Morlaix (Morlaix Communauté, Haut-Léon Communauté and Communauté de Communes de Landivisiau), Technopôle Brest-Iroise and Station Biologique de Roscoff.
It receives financial support from Europe (DLAL FEAMP) et la Brittany Region for the period 2020-2023.
The Blue Valley® project aims to fuel a local economic development strategy as well as to benefit the entire community of regional and international players, embodied in the Campus mondial de la mer.
In 2020, the PETR will buy back the Blue Valley® brand, previously held by Sorbonne University.
Stimulating the desire to undertake, facilitating the creator's path, and providing accommodation for project leaders
Blue Valley® has 2 main objectives:
- To support employment and employability in the sector by developing a local animation. In concrete terms, this means organizing events designed to:
- Raise awareness of entrepreneurship in higher education and research institutions,
- Make students and young researchers aware of the professions,
- Create projects, start-ups and attract companies;
- Facilitate the entrepreneur's residential itinerary:
- By setting up a referral point of contact to connect and direct project holders to the appropriate experts,
- By promoting the installation of companies in specially designed locations (offices, laboratories, sites with direct access to the sea or land areas).
Through these actions, the idea is to make Blue Valley® an additional tool for cooperation and outreach for the bioresources and marine biotechnologies sector on the one hand, and Finistère on the other.
Since 2019, Blue Valley® is 1 international cooperation, the reception of 2 foreign delegations, the support of 21 project leaders, the hosting of 4 companies, the organization of 2 company visits, 4 afterworks, 4 international events, 2 creativity and serious-game workshops, 1 day of entrepreneurship training, 2 days of coworking ... and many more to come!
