IUEM (UBO/CNRS/IRD)

IUEM is a research institute dedicated to the oceans and coasts, where researchers from a range of disciplines delve into the mysteries of the marine world, from the deep ocean to surface waves, from micro-organisms to complex ecosystems and major global bio-geochemical cycles, from the time scale of a storm to that of continental drift. Our aim is to help societies meet the challenges posed to marine and coastal areas by the shaking of the earth's crust, climate change, the depletion of resources, the need to develop renewable energies and the loss of biodiversity.
IUEM is a university institute providing multidisciplinary training for hundreds of Masters and PhD students in marine and coastal sciences, as well as developing innovative training programmes at the crossroads of science and society.
